I've spent hours with my new HP HDX 18 notebook (Intel Wifi Link 5100) to get a 40MHz connection (300Mbps gross data rate) to my access point. My access point is a Netgear WNHDE111 5GHz access point. I only get 150Mbps and in the status it shows one channel in use. For the life of me I cannot get it to work with the channel bonding. Both sides are set to Auto 20/40. Both sides have updated firmware/drivers. I've tried with and without WPA2/AES encryption. Driving me crazy. Do I now have to buy a new 802.11n 5GHz access point? Thanks.

History so far has told us to get the 300mbps you must use same mfg hardware. Only the 130mbps is fully support with different mfg. Once the spec is finalized the higher speeds connections should get better but not a sure bet, look at 11g.

But Intel does not offer any routers or access points. Anyone out there with a Wifi Link 5100 client getting 300Mbps? What brand of router/access point do you use?
