If by wifi you mean a wireless connect card (AT&T, Verizon, etc), then yes. If by wifi you mean a wireless network provided to people on the train, by the transportation company, then no.

I have. I went to Salt Lake city for a convention last year and they got a new train. I turned the WIFI on on my phone and watched tv though my slingbox and browsed the web with skyfire.

    It was free there BTW.

And I will like wifi with a fox.
And I will like wifi in a house.
And I will like wifi with a mouse.
And I will like wifi here and there.
Say! I will like wifi ANYWHERE!

    I do so like

Hahaha, you are indeed very talented.

Yes, I meant in a real train. I may get a contract to design the infrastructure for WiFi in the train and in the train stations. We do this in Europe long time already, in the states just recently. But I hear that the service works intermittently.

Optimum online has been advertising the new availability of its broadband internet services from the Long Island Railroad, which is apparently accessible by existing Optimum Online subscribers without an additional charge. I don't know if non-subscribers can also use the service on a pay-as-you-go basis.

I'm wondering who are the big players for the in-train network equipment.

I frequently ride Amtrak between Boston and NYC, the fast train (Acela) is always loaded with businessmen who would certainly pay for wi-fi. In fact, at least half the passengers have a laptop out on the train whether they're using it for business or something else such as watching a movie. I use a Blackberry Curve to connect to the web while on the train, it works well in the Northeast as coverage is good, though I do lose a connection in more rural Connecticut. There is no on board wi-fi offered by Amtrak, at least in the Northeast.

If I find out, I most certainly won't tell you - I'll just scoop up those contracts instead!

Yeah, French is paramount in Montreal, a little bit less for business but nonetheless.
