I have a Linksys gateway/router (wireless). When I first got my computer it was working fine. But now I can connect to email, but not to the internet using explorer, I get that connection not found screen in explorer. I have not installed any new software, and occasionally it works fine, but then after a while it quits working, but like I said I can still get email. The connection is rated at Very Good. I have my Tivo in the same room and it has no problem connecting to the internet for it's updates. Can some one guide me in the correct direction?
    Thanks [V]

If you open up a command window (Star->Run->cmd), can you ping Internet addresses? I.e 'ping www.google.com' or any other addresses. Does it resolve to an IP address?

You should also try using firefox (www.getfirefox.com)...I had a problem with IE once where I had to manually type in the "http://" part.

Have you set your routers IP address as the gateway in the TCP/IP properties of you connection?

Sounds like your router is not finding the IP's DNS (Domain Name Servers). Try entering http://216.239.57.99. This is the IP address for google.

If you can access google, you simply have a DNS problem. Plug direclty into the modem. Use the ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew. You should then be able to access the web using URL's. If you can do an ipconfig /all and record your DNS addresses. Add them into the router and you should be good to go. This is the same issue I had with my Lynksys wireless. I had a d-link wired and it worked right out of the box. The lynksys I had to have some patience to set it up. The CD that comes with the unit that supposedly sets everthing up for you did not work worth a crap.
