    I am having a problem with the D-Link WBR-1310 Revision A1 router.

My exact problem is that everytime I access the router using 192.168.0.1 I lose the connection. The WZC icon in my system tray shows that I have disconnected from the router and I lose internet, etc.

If I wait a few seconds or maybe a minute or 2 it automatically reconnects. But while it is disconnected I open the WZC window and it says something about another program is managing the wireless even though the Windows XP Wireless program is managing it.

I have the latest firmware and have gone through the D-Link FAQ and have not found anything about it.

I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2, Intel 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN with updated drivers from Intel. Laptop model: Acer TravelMate 8103WLMi.

You can not have 2 programs controlling the wireless card, causes problems. Look in your startup program and see if you see something starting up there. Then look through all of your installed program list. More than likely it's a program that acer installed. If you don't have it there look through you services, and or msconfig, startup list.

I don't have 2 programs installed that can control wireless. I know that WZC message indicates that but I am sure that I don't have any other program that controls wireless. I uninstalled most of the Acer software that came with my laptop, and I didn't find anything with eNetManagement or any wireless connection software.

Can you access the router via a cable connection?

More than likely it was loaded with the wireless driver. Look under the services and see if it is loaded.

And can you access the router via cable????? If your doing conf on the routers use wired, most have mini boots that will dump the wireless.

You may want to look at the energy management, make sure it's not sheeding load.

The only wireless service that is loaded is the Wireless Zero Configuration service thats default in Windows XP.

I can connect to the router via LAN cable and I have no problem accessing the configuration pages that way. I also checked for power management, there doesn't appear to be any on the router and my wireless card power management isn't enabled.

Also one time my router locked up and stopped transmitting, I rebooted it several times but it just wouldn't transmit. I was able to connect via cable but not via wireless. Any possible reason for this new problem as well?

Intel normally has it's own wireless manager. Loaded from the startup folder. Doing a ctrl-alt-del should list all programs and services running. Take another look. Clear out all cache files, IE/FF and windows. Then reboot and try again. Then connect via wired and see if it has a security feature, that prevents wireless admin management, some do.

There is no Intel wireless manager. There is no program that is managing wireless except for WZC. If the Intel program was managing it then I would be seeing it right now, but its not even installed. There is no Acer eNetManagement, it was never installed, even if it was I would have removed it.
