Hi, I have a Acer Aspire 5630 Intel Centrino Duo Laptop. I got it for an amazing deal but the only drawback is that it came with 3945 wireless adapter. I already have a wireless-n router and I know that the 4965 needs 3 antennas and I only have 2. Before I purchase my new wireless adapter I wanted to know if instead of having to take my lcd off, I can install a low profile antenna as the third one, and simply leave it in the area around the cpu. Thanks.

    antenna I'm planning to get:

Are you planning to replace the 3945 with a 4965?

The 4965 does not "need" a third antenna. Just be sure to connect the ones labled "1" and "2".

The 4965 does has 3 antennas terminals, 2 transmit (1 and 2) and 1 receive (3), so, does it need them? I would say yes, but you might get away with installing one transmit (1) and one receive (3), but I don't garantee the performance.
