Make sure you have the latest drivers in the router and NB. Make sure the SSID is unique to your location. Duplicate SSID causes problems.

First remove all of the attempted locations and start fresh. Reboot to clean up some lingering cache. I do not typing security keys. If you have good keys consisting of all printable chr it's like a typing test drill, your likely to make a mistake on a 63 chr string. I get my keys from GRC.com random generator. Copy a few to a notepad and save. XP has problems at times if over 20 chr. Which if random gen using all printable chr would take a pc at 100k/sec 20+ yrs if it had to go through them all. So 20 chr are more than enough to be secure.

If you only have 1 nb on wireless, use the copy and paste instead of tying it in. O an 0 can look the same depending of font being used.

Vista prefers WPA(2) AES, does not like WEP or NO key, even though they work very sluglishly.

Use a wired connection to setup the router, while your connected setup the wireless, by pasting the key. The SSID is case sensitivity as with keys unless your using hex code (WEP). The new breed of teenagers use WEP as something to pass time with. Kind of a competition between them on who can break it the fastest.

IPv4 is set by default, IP address 0.0.0.0

Go to the properties of the network adapter, click on IPv4, click properties and change the IP address and DNS to automatic.

    Hope it works :)
