I Always have a "Very Good" or 'Exellent" signal yet when i try to play games it laggs so bad I Want to Throw my screen across the room. I try and talk to my parents but they say its nothing to do with the wireless. Is this true? What do i need to do to not get a such a laggy gamming experience?

um.. sounds like you are using dial-up to connect. This will definately lag games.

Upgrade to DSL. AFAIK, DSL doesnt cost much more.

Have you asked your question on the Shot Online site? I've heard that certain games have issues with certain routers.

Lag is very common with Wireless connection used for gaiming. Even the new ones. You may also have another wireless near by causing problems to.

Maybe your phone is causing your problem. Upgrade your phone from 2.4GHz to 5.8GHz to avoid furthur interference.

Before doing that, try changing your router's channel. It's probably set at channel 6 right now, which is the most commonly used channel/frequency. Try a lower or higher number.

That's not what I meant. That frequency is very common with other wireless devices (phones, etc). Just try changing the channel to see if it improves your connection.

Another thing to think about is the location of the computer in relation to the location of the router. Let me explain. You state that your router was loacated in your basement. Where is the computer located? If upstairs, you have to take in to account any and all obstacles between you and the router, ie doors, walls, microwave ovens and cordless phones central air conditioners, et all. All of this can cause serious perfomance issues.

I would suggest moving the router, if at all possible, to a higher location. Another suggestion, if the router permits, is to install higher gain antenna's, this is increase the signal output so that it can reach further spots in the houseand is a cheaper alternative then buying all new equipment. As someone mentioned changing the channel of the router could also help.

Which Sympatico Hi-Speed are you on? I believe that each package differs in speed i.e. the more you pay the faster you go.

Thing is, it sounds more like a router issue. I have seen D-Link higher gain antennas at Future Shop - it's basically an additional antenna that gets screwed on. You might also try to verify you have the latest firmware edition for the router.

Also, as others have said anything "wireless" or just the fact your wireless signal is going through wood/drywall/plaster/carpet/etc. will interfere with the signal strength.
