Just like the thread says it all. Which is better with gaming? My college blocks all gaming ports in my dorms and the network is always shutting done so I need something reliable. Any suggestions please. And please don't turn this into a "you're in school you should be studying" type of thread because I do study just need something to take my mind away for an hour or so. ;)

This would really depend on who offers the better coverage in your area...

One thing to look out for is bandwidth limits. Be sure to check the TOS for each of these services before you choose.

It is entirely dependant on the towers in your local area. Best way to get an opinion is to ask locally as others have suggested. Looking at their coverage maps can be helpful as well (but sometimes mis-leading).

Definitely be very careful regarding bandwidth restrictions as booboo suggested.

Yeah, these 3G networks have pretty sweet speeds from 500Kb/s to 10Mbps/s (!!!), but they're intended for basic web browsing bandwidth usage. Gaming isn't super bandwidth heavy, but it toes the line.

I have a Verizon expresscard modem, and a" unlimited useage contract" except for streaming video, and large downloads, also states cannot be used for webcams, so it isn"t unlimited. I have downloaded large files and gotten away with it, but lately my connection will reset if they detect me downloading large files, so check the usage contract! On the other hand my card quit working and I had a replacement the next day no charge! Great customer service!

Verizon got in trouble for advertising that as unlimited. They changed their advertising for it last I heard to not include the term.

SPRINT!!! Read Verizons terms of agreement. They basically just want you to check your email and thats it! I almost went with Verizon a comment a kid made at Game Stop about his friend getting booted off the service for downloading and gaming. Sprints great, It's pretty fast 800-1200kbs down 300-600kbs up. Watch streaming video. Download(with a free download manager) about a 1/3 as quick as high speed but not bad. I can play CS:S with no problem a just filter latency < 150 I don't have as many server options as a direct cable broadband user but I live out in the country and it's great when we've been stuck with dial up for years.
