Well at the end of this week I'm transitioning from Cable to DSL and have a few questions.

I currently have a single phone line, when it reaches the house it branches off into two lines. (One for upstairs, one for downstairs)

I currently have two phones using phone jacks. (One wired /w answering machine and then one wireless base with two expandable units)

Since the line branches off and the phone line I'll be plugging my DSL Modem up to won't be on the same branch as the one with the two telephones do I still need to put filters on those two telephones?

I'm assuming yes, but I just wanted to be sure.

    Thanks,

    JMM

Positively, because the higher frequency steams that make up DSL will propagate through all of the wire medium. But to be sure, what do you mean by "branches?"

basically you have to put a filter to every phone jack that you hook your phone system in (not applicable to wireless units). since ur choosing Verizon DSL and if you have chosen the Actiontech gateway (the popular one Verizon is offering now), when setting up, you can't use the filter on the phone jack that you're going to hook the gateway in. so, if u plan to hook a corded phone system on that same jack, you should buy a splitter and use a filter on the one for phone. i hope i got what you mean. :)

Most of the time the kit includes 4 filters, if you need more most electronic houses have them, Fry's, Radio Shack...

Thanks, I thought they were only sending me one filter but luckily you are correct they sent me four. Ignore the "branches" term I used...I wrote the original post when I was extremely tired. Needless to say I installed the filters to all devices that needed them.

    Thanks!
