    Hello all,

after 1 year of using the verizon dsl actiontec wireless gateway to connect to the internet, now it's dead!

the ethernet signal just drops constantly ( ethernet LEDs turn on then off). no DSL or wireless signal either.

i have tried every method i could think of but with no luck. is the hardware really faulty?

Well, if you tried everything you could think of, the hardware is probably faulty. I am an AT&T Yahoo! DSL subscriber whose modem died a few days after the one-year warranty expired. They seem to time is just right and BAM the modem dies. Now, I have a D-Link DSL modem that I bought relatively cheaply off of NewEgg that has just sailed past its 2nd birthday not too long ago. So ya...I would be looking for a replacement (if you're still under warranty) or buying a new one.

well, i am now using the old westell/linksys combo and it seems to be faster than the actiontec one. i'll call them for a replacement if still under warranty.

    thanks for your reply.

Modem/Router combos usually suck hard. The device is trying to do two functions at once and can only do so for so long. Eventually, it craps out. The best way to go, in my opinion, is to have a stand alone modem and a separate router. I prefer a wired network, however, many others prefer wireless.
