Im not sure exactly what it is... Its apparently "VNC", but it seems just like Remote Access...

Anyway i have a VNC Program on my mobile device. When im on my home network, it can connect to any PC on the network and view/control it like remote access. I want to be able to go to anoyher network and access the computer. I know its possible because my friend has done it. He said u can use something like port forwarding or TCIP/IP Advancing. He gave me directions but i couldnt figure it out. it was VERY VERY Confusing.   So, can sombody help me?

I have a Trendnet 452BRP Super G/B (he said this matters)

And i use TightVNC on the computer im trying to access, i will switch if i need to.

    Thank you.

Another thing to keep in mind that unless you have a business class internet connection your IP is most likely not static so you'll also need to get a dynamic dns service that will allow you to give your connection a name. (ie. google.com is actually 209.85.171.99) I use dyndns.com as it's easy and free. This site also has information on how to setup port forwarding for pretty much every home router you can imagine http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm Also the port that you're going to need to forward is port 5300

well...not to nit pick but google has a very nicely done DNS setup

    google.com. 282 IN A 209.85.171.99
    google.com. 282 IN A 64.233.187.99
    google.com. 282 IN A 72.14.207.99

those are the 3 IP's that are active right now.

Some routers firmware are flakey and require a power cycle to load the settings. I would try that then log back in. Remember on your end you need to point the forward port to the pc running the service. Not the remote one. You may need to have it running when you setup your router.
