I just purchased a Samsung TV. It has a network jack on the back. It's far away from my Linksys WRT54G wireless router that's connected to the cable modem.
Is there some way that I can configure a spare Linksys WRT54G router, plug the television into it and have the TV on the network?

Not with the default software in the wrt54g. To turn it inot a bridge, you'll need a third party firmware solution like DDWRT.

Yeah, if not, we can give ya a rundown. It's mad easy considering how popular your router is and how popular the firmware is.

Just mind your hardware version. There are currently at least 8 of them and some require special procedure to flash it, one doesn't work at all and some of them require you to use the smallest version of firmware (due to limited flash memory)
Still it's easy enough. -
I found some youtube videos on how to do it. Do I need to install DDWRT on both routers or just the router I want to use as a bridge?

Just the one used as a bridge I believe.

itd be best to use it on both, for two reasons, one its more fun, and two youll be amazed at how much more you can do with your 54g than before, it pretty much gives it cisco 2500 series functionality.

I installed the DD-WRT firmware on my spare router and configured it as a bridge. It works great!
Thanks everyone for your help. -
Excellent. Go hit up your downloads, you pirate!!!
