To be connected at 802.11n speeds you need to use WPA2+AES as security/encryption and have WMM enabled -check those two (both settings on the router)

Have you checked the link rate indicated by windows 8, it could simply be that it is reporting wireless g because you are on 2.4GHz. Windows 8 indicates wireless a instead of n for me (on 5GHz).

EDIT: Yup, it's showing either g or a depending on the frequency regardless of network speed.

What i meant is that on my win 8 laptop, it also shows wireless g in the task manager (Intel adapter), but the network speed is definitely wireless n. If you want to verify, transfer a large file between two computers over your network.

Definitely looks like N on the Intel, N on the broadcom as well, but yeah crappy link rate. You could be victim of interference on 2.4GHz, if you have a dual band router, try the 5GHz band instead (if you don't have to be too far form the router).

Yes- it's "n" on Intel- anything higher than 54mbps has to be "n" (with the exception of Super-G and similar technologies none of which works on Intel anyway)
.Also looking at your router settings you are using AES.
