I had this setup before, but upgraded the firmware which reset all my settings, and now I can't remember how I did it.

I have a Linksys wifi router upstairs, which serves (via DHCP) all my IP's through out the entire LAN. I have a CAT5 hardwire running downstairs to my D-Link DI-614+ router serving wifi (802.11b unencrypted) to my laptop, and using the switch for my HTPC and XBOX too.... :D

After the upgrade of firmware - now I can't seem to make it work - I'm a little lost. I know there's a way to set this thing up as a bridge/switch/access point only - and not serve any IP's, or anything like that, but now I can't figure out how I did it. HELP ME PLEASE.

The new firmware is 2.34 dated 3/2006

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

I don't know D-Link's config well but you can prolly accomplish that by plugging the uplink ('hardwire') into one of the D-Link's LAN ports, rather than the WAN port. Then you are essentially bypassing the router function, extending the switch from upstairs, and allowing wifi access to it. Be sure to disable the DHCP server before you do this, then wired and wireless clients both will get DHCP from the Linksys.

you will need to plug it into the LAN port but you will need to configure other things too. I also do not know............dude I just realized you could have combined 4 damn posts into one instead of taking up the top of the whole page with posts........going on.....I don't know the D-Link config pages(HATE D-Link) but you will need to change something from gateway to router or something like that and disable DHCP. then plug the cable from the LAN port on your DHCP serving router to the LAN port on the d-link. again I don't know the exact thing for the d-link, sorry.
