    Question:
I want to use the internet on my laptop at work. How?

    Scenario:
All desktops are on network. All have fast internet access.
I want to unplug the network cable from one desktop, put it in my laptop instead, and connect to the internet.

I have tried before but failed. What IP address/settings must I put in? Is it possible?

    Thank you in advance!

Ok, sounds serious. Would do that yeah. Is there a way I can use the telephone line via my laptop modem? Just for interest.

you probably don't want to be using your telephone line for internet. I'm not sure your employers would appreciate that.

and i second the IT consulting. They'll get you wired into the network in no time, if its okay with them.

m394byt3, good idea! See what's allowed and what's not in your company before trying to put unauthorized systems on the corporate network.
