Whenever my computer restarts or comes out of standby, the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" in the Wireless Network Connection Properties box, Wireless Networks tab is unchecked. Once I check on the box, everything's fine, so its more of an inconvenience than a big problem.

Someone told me that it might be a problem with third party connection software, but I'm not sure how I would fix this (if it is the problem). Anyone have any ideas on how keep the box permenantly checked? Thanks!

You can not have MS and 3rd party loading at the same time. The 3rd party may be loaded from startup>program files> startup. If so delete the shortcut. If not there check in the msconfig utility from dos cmd, Startup.

Look under services, administrative section or by msconfig.

I am also finding that the "allow windows to configure my wireless network settings " becomes un checked every time I log off but do not know how to find if a 3rd party software is also trying to do the job in addition to windows. I have BT Yahoo Broadband and suspect that this is the problem. An additional icon has appeared in the bottom right hand corner of the screen telling me when the wireless connection has been made but I dont know the programme that drives it. Please help

try to open ur MSCONFIG, and then go to Startup tab, uncheck them all and reboot and try. If one of those was a 3rd party wireless program you should get it there.

If your asking if any of those 30 will keep the system from rebooting? No they won't, those are all extra programs that start with your computer. Will you miss any? idk, generaly you probably wont' even notice any of them missing, some programs like AOL, Winamp, etc will preload with the system. If you have somthing like a IM client, you will probably have to manualy start it, or just find it in the list and leave it checked.

What you can do is, uncheck them all, and see if it fixes your problem (which it should), then if anything is missing that you liked having at boot, go back into the MSCONFIG and look more closely at the checkboxes, you should be able to see the .exe name and or the path to that application. Then you can decide if you want to recheck the box... in reality theres probably 1 box that has to do with your wireless, but without seeing the list I couldn't tell you what it was.

You may also find startup programs in your Registry. Usually it's somewhere in HKeyLocalMachine -> Software -> Microsoft ->Windows ->Run or something of that sort. You could also check your services to see if ZeroConf or something similar to that name is enabled or disabled.

I haven't looked at the registry in a while though, so would someone else please correct my errors if there are any.
