Hello. I just got a Dynex Wireless USB adapter (standard) from Best Buy. The installation was fine and it's usable (Kind of suprising :p ) but the speed is not satisfactory compared to the distance away from the router. Computer is only 2 feet away but the speed is only 36mbp from 54mbs. I am guessing it is the usb port's fault where the usb for this desktop doesn't support usb 2.0. Is this correct? thks :D

If you have an USB 1.1 the maximum speed would be 12Mbps, but that's not the speed you are looking at, the 36Mbps is the speed on the wireless link, the same way you would see 5Mbps (just an example) from your router/modem to the ISP.

Two feet from the router should get you 54Mbps if you are using the g standard. I'm afraid that is a question of power, is either the USB adapter or the router or both are not transmitting full power.

Check that in the router and the wireless adapter window that they are transmitting maximum power.

Another issue could be interference form cordless phone system, in that case try to change the channel for your wireless link.
