    Dear folks,

I have a HP ProBook 4730s. It uses an Atheros AR9285 half card wifi adapter. It max's out at 150mbps on my home network. I was thinking of upgrading to an Intel 6200. I have had success with Intel cards before getting upto 270mbps.

Am I ok to do this? Are there any issues I need to be aware of?

I think HP whitelists its cards so it's going to work fine as long as you use HP Intel 6200 or remove the whitelist altogether.

These goddam whitelists are sickening. I was caught out a while back with a Lenovo and the Intel 6200. Just would not work. I eventually got rid of the lenovo as it fell apart and customer service was awful (still under warranty).

So is it easy to remove the whitelist from the HP ProBook? How? If not, where would I go to purchase HP approved cards?

    Many thanks

I don't know how to remove the whitelist- I wouldn't bother- there are usually HP and Lenovo whitelisted cards available on e-bay. It's probably a lot easier buying one than removing the whitelist.
