Its sad but comcast can't help me out at all. Every time I call them, they do "something" on their end, tell me to restart modem, and it works fine temporarily but then craps on me again.

It started about 3 weeks ago. It was working perfectly fine before, no issues for a month and a few weeks. I don't know whats happening. I made no changes at all.

I'm connected via ethernet and no one is on the wireless network. I'm also not even sure if its my modem...... Let me explain.

Here is a speedtest on my nearby server (I have a 100/10 modem)

btw, the meter jumped to 100mb/s at first, then slowly dropped down to what u see above.

Here it is on the next closest server in PA

    What the heck??????

Here is another in Richmond Virginia

Ok, why is a server further away faster and has less ping????? Lets go even further out. CA

ofc, I expect bad results from korea but pretty sure fios had better speeds then that when I had it. O and lookie, my modem is acting fine now. My clostest server again 2nd time

Probably due to a lot of problems with the backbone being crazy today!

    Check out the Comcast outage:

I'm on TWC, and my packets have been routed all over the US, just to get to the coast.

Interesting. Thanks for the link. I can't wait for fios to be available in my area. I used to have it in Maryland and it never screwed up on me.

Is it a Modem/Router unit or do you have only a modem that you attach your own router to?

    Which model?

I have AT&T and their Uverse Motorola NVG589 modem/router(2.4ghz only).

I went into the unit's setup and disabled the wireless then attached my own Netgear R7000 router to pair with my AC and N devices.

Now I have 5ghz band with no interference and better connections.

Next I will buy my own compatible modem and eliminate the $7 a month equipment rental fee.
