I have a Toshiba Satellite A30 which is about 3 years old and has Windows XP Home SP2 installed. I am having a problem enabling wireless network - basically the laptop is not recognising that a wireless card has been inserted - I do not get the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' when i plug it in. (I am able to run the vendor software installation that came with the card but after you plug in the card, it simply stops installing and hangs)
Please note that this is NOT a problem with the card itself, it works perfectly well on another laptop.
The cardbus controller is an ENE CB1410 which is on the compatibility list for XP. The Device Manager reports that this is working properly. (I tried re-installing the device drivers but this had no effect)
I'd be grateful for some help
Thanks
Peter

Did it work before?
Did it come with its own wireless configuration utility?
If you haven't done so, I would try uninstalling the device via "add/remove programs". I've noticed that when you do a reinstall or uninstall of the driver thru the device manager, it really doesn't seem to do a clean install of the driver. I may be wrong, but I've had better luck thru the latter.
You could also try to create a new wireless network connection thru Network connections and delete the old.
One last thing, you are certain the wireless network connection is not disabled, right -
Thanks for the reply.
The lack of an install new hardware wizard made me think that windows wasn't recognising it, as well as no lights on the card.
As far as i am aware (i'm trying to fix this for someone else) it has never worked, and yes, the card (it's a Belkin) came with it's own config utility.
As you say, i can't seem to get a clean uninstall or re-install however i try to do it. I will try your suggestion of setting up thru Network Connections.
I'm certain the wireless connection is not disabled. -

I had one user install the card upside down. Then I had another that did not want to be inserted all the way in. Just a check.
