    Unable to change mac address

    Hello everyone.
    I have been playing with my new compaq 6710b and apparently i can't change my lan mac address.
    I tried to use regedit and to change the value in "locally administred address" under control panel\system\hardware\mynetworkcard\advanced but it didn't work.
    I also tried MacMakeUp, it works but as soon as i plug in the network cable the default address is restored.

    I don't have an access point to test if things are the same with the wireless nic.

    I checked the bios but i was unable to find anything useful.

    Am i missing something? Google hasn't been helpful this time...

    How embarrassing i found what was wrong...
    I kept inserting the address using cut and paste and i did't realize that the address i wrote the first time was 9 characters long :rolleyes:
    now everything is ok :eek:

    i guess i'll be using a safer 001122334455 for my tests from now on...
