The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Posted this in the software forums, didn't get too many replies (well, none). Maybe it's better off here.

    Someone on this forum recommended ultravnc as a remote desktop replacement, but I have no idea how to set it up. Do I have to download it on both the client and the host? What do I have to do to get connected? BtW, I have a home network and all the pcs are connected through a wireless router. THanx in advance.

    It's the same executable for the "server" and the "client"

    Install it on all of your computers and follow the directions for setting it up.
    It's pretty easy to configure.
    If you want to be able to access individual computers from the outside world, you'll have to set the server to use different ports and forward those ports accordingly through your router.
    if using it internally only, then you can leave the ports as default, and connect to the machines by IP (192.168.x.x).
