Hello i have 2 questions that concern the wireless internet on my laptop.
    1. my laptop is telling me that i am disconnected from the internet and that my lan cable is unplugged, but i am typing and posting a question on the internet while it says i am off the internet?
    2. when creating a wireless connection to our lan reciever router thing i accidently created 3 different wireless connections and wanted to know how to delete 2 of them so they don't always show up while i'm not at home. thank you in advance.

That's normal. That icon only handles Wired Ethernet cable status-Since your not physically connecting your computer to the router, you'll see that icon in your Notification Area.

Darn, If I was on XP, I could probably answer that, I can't remember how to do that off of the top of my head as the procedure is different on a Vista machine.

I believe you are asking how to delete already connected once/configured wireless ID's. In XP, you right click on the wireless icon in the bottom right, view available wireless networks. Then on that screen choose change the order of preferred networks on the left, then there is a list of ID's, delete all toy want, but remember if you typed a key the first time, it will prompt the next time if you remove it.
