Here's a run down.
'michael', 'emma', and 'tom' can all see 'router'Code:There are 4 'points of interest' on the network. 'router' - Wireless router - 192.168.1.1 'michael' - Flatmate computer - WinXP - (wired to 'router') - 192.168.1.145 'tom' - My laptop - Vista - wireless - 192.168.1.105 'emma' - My partners laptop - WinXP - wireless - 192.168.1.144
'michael' can see 'tom' and 'emma'
'tom' and 'emma' can see 'michael'
'tom' cannot see 'emma'
'emma' cannot see 'tom'
The network type on Vista is set to private. None of the computers have a firewall enabled (the inbuilt OS ones are disabled too).
What could cause this?

I have a very similar issue actually... and sometimes who is visible and invisible varies... which is weird...
Can either of them see themselves? -
Both can see themselves.
Whether 'tom' can see 'michael' (and vice versa) varies. Not sure if emma->michael does. -
I used to be able to see myself and now I can't...

This might sound like a dumb question but have you tried restarting your router? I had this exact same problem with one of the switches on my network I restarted the switch and it fixed the problem.

There is a setting on some routers called privacy. It isolates users from each other, may see if your router has it un-checked.
Two laptops can see all network devices except each other
