My sister has a laptop. It is made by iqon.
Iqon is one of the worst manufacturers of laptops i have ever heard or seen. I told my sister to wait to get a laptop here in our country, from a much more reputable firm, but she rushed and bought it from ireland.

There are no sfotware cds with the laptop, and their site doesn't offer any software downloads.

The laptop has an AMD TK-53 1.7ghz cpu, 2gb ram, geforce 6100 or something integrated.
And wireless lan. Oh, wireless lan is a beauty.

We are talking about the realtek RLT8187_Wireless adapter.

The os is windows 7 ultimate 32 bit.
The wireless was with exclamation point and i decided to make it work.

Downloaded some inf drivers, and updated the drivers from device manager, and the os recognized the card.

We are talking about the Realtek RTL 8187 Wireles 802.11 b/g 54 Mbps USB 2.0 Network adapter.

The problem is it is OFF.
The laptop has a led that's suppose to show if the adapter is on or off, and the led is OFF. The os sees the card, but sees it as turned of.
I have disabled the feature, allow os to power down device to preserve power and laptop is on power outlet, full power settings.

I also installed a control center, it sees the card, but there's no way to turn it on.
    The control center is:
Realtek RTL 8187 Wireless Lan Utility
    Version 700.1604.108.2010
    Copyright (c) 2003-2010

The problem is the laptop doesn't have a hardware turn On/Off button, so there's no way to turn it on.
The OS should by default have it on, if there's no switch, right ?

Is there any other way to turn the adapter on, or any other drivers, that can make this work ?

    Driver Date is 10.17/2008
    and Version 1.0.1.211.

Any Help is much appreciated. Because i ran out of options.

It's possible that you need to use a combo like Fn + F1 or Fn + F2 to enable Wi-Fi.
Take a look at the icons on function keys or look it up in the manual.
