    Trying to share files betweeen two comps help!

    I have an ethernet cable hooked up to my desktop and my laptop. i just want to send a few files from the desktop to the laptop. now that i hooked the cable up i dont know how to get it started lol any help pleaSE?

    Honestly,I don't know much about it. Hopefully this guide will help. It doesn't seem that difficult. Tell me how it goes,if it works well and good. If it doesn't I'll try to help you out with something else.

    how can i tell if its a crossover cable. its a yellow ethernet cable that connets my dsl to my comp. i just unplug it from the dsl box adn into my other comp

    halperin, that cable is called a patch cable. It's basically just an extension cord. You need a crossover cable. Visit the links already provided for more information.
