We have a 30 acre construciton site with 9 buildings. Main building is fully grouted concrete block with structural steel roof structure. Construction trailer is on rise above entire site.

I have the new Ipad with only WiFi and not 4G. I purchased and installed a Hawking HOW2R1 IEEE 802.11n 300 Mbps Wireless Range Extender . We can see and log onto the router within 100 feet but any farther it just won't hook up. I am going to return this access point, enough time spent trying to trouble shoot.

I just ordered a Ubiquiti Networks PICO2HP 2.4GHz 802.11bg High Power access point. I will give this a try.

What does the group here think? Will this new access point work? I would be happy with 500' coverage. I can live with being outside line of site to the antenna. Please make constructive suggestions.

Yikes!!!!!! My budget does not extend to 3K for this network. How about something that works for less than $500?

    Feral1,

I don't know about any other products that can solve your problem, but you are talking about 30 acre area. I can tell you that you need point to muti-point wireless mesh. I wouldn't go to anything less then enterprise grade. I also assume that you don't have problem with line of sight either. Wireless bridge is only your option because I used to set up the site with the same senario too.

I don't know about blue solution. He seems to know everything, but I would not settle less that what I said above. This advice comes from the person who has been there and done that. The rest of it is up to you.
