    Hey guys,

Recently I updated the drivers of my Intel Wireless. Since I was on cable when I did the update, I didn't notice that something was wrong but when I got back home (where I have a wireless connection), it fails to connect to my home network.

The problem is that I'm not sure if the problem has something to do with the network itself, or with my new driver.

My wireless says "There is a network available: NetopiaWireless". When I ask to connect, he asks me for the password, and when I enter that, he verifies, and tries to connect. But he only gets connected with "limited possibilities", i.e. no internet.

So my question is: how do I locate the problem?
(Btw: I don't have any system restore points, and I already tried numerous different drivers for my wireless.)

P.S. Also, how can i determine what kind of wireless network adapter I have? I tried going to "System devices", but I noticed that every time I install a new driver, it changes (from Intel 5300 Wifi, to Intel 5300 AGN, to Intel 4965 AGN).

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Tank

Well, if the description of your NIC went from an Intel 5300 to an Intel 4965, that suggests that you got the wrong driver installed by mistake.

According to the Clevo website, that model comes with either the 5100 or the 5300, so you've almost certainly got a problem if the system thinks it's a 4965 after the driver update.

Other than that, don't you recall what it had when you ordered the system? If not, check your paperwork to see what the invoice says.

I'm pretty sure it was a 4965AGN originally... (and both my invoice and Kobalt Computers' site seems to confirm this :) )

I'll install some new drivers and see if it helps!

Well, ok. That just makes it curiouser and curiouser, to quote Alice. Post the results from the new drivers.
