Hello everyone. I need your help in accessing Youtube and other social networking sites on my laptop. I bought this laptop from a friend of mine in Saudi Arabia. It is an HP Pavilion dv 2000 series laptop with Windows Vista installed. Now, I am using this in India and am having problems in accessing the above sites. Whenever I try to open up the above mentioned sites, I get a funny and crazy message " Youtube is banned you fool, the administrators didnt write this, guess who did ". Now I know this is really funny, but than again I tried setting up proxy servers and also using other browsers. It wont let me use any other commonly used browsers (Mozilla, Opera etc) other than IE. I dont want to try out downloading and installing proxy server softwares write now. So is there any way around I can access the above mentioned sites on my laptop. Theres nothing wrong with my ISP as I do have a desktop too and everything works fine. It could possibly some software or some settings that wont allow me to access them. So friends is there any such software that can be used to block websites and if so how to overcome it. Or else maybe any other solution that could be used to get rid of this problem. If not maybe I have to try out working with proxy server softwares. Just would like to give it a try without them. Any amount of help would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys.

    Welcome to the forums.

Sounds like you should do a virus/adware check on your laptop. If you still are having troubles and need to get to youtube or other sites, try http://youtubeproxy.ws

Thanks dude. Somehow I feel I should be trying the youtube proxy as I have already run virus/adware check and found the results to be negative. In case if the problem still persists, will get back to you again.
    Thank you

In some countries they control what you can view. If so they are blocking it at the ISP connection. The only away around would be to run a vpn connection to a different part of the world that is not blocking it. Then VPN requires some bandwidth to work smoothly.

Also there is a file called host.? On XP this is in the windows directory. If this file has been modified it can restrict where you can go and see. It work by using a loop back connection.

Are you using a satilite or cellular card for connection.
