I recently formatted my sister's hard drive and performed a clean xp install, trouble was I had to connect it to my desktop to complete the installation process as the laptop has a tendency to over heat and shut down when stressed.

With the hard drive connected internally to the laptop once more it boots up perfectly, albeit with an error message to begin with concerning the CMOS. However the laptop does not detect all of it's hardware, specifically it's LAN and Wireless cards and therefore I cannot connect it to the internet to download all the necessary drivers for it to run efficiently.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I've tried downloading the drivers from compaq but I mist be missing something as none of them seem to work, moreover the laptop itself is a Compaq Presario V6000; this model alone isn't displayed on their website which is giving me more of a headache.

    Did you try this way?
Is the Wi-Fi card visible in device manager?

Open the NB up and clean out all the dirt and dust to get the cooling back to normal. Verify all the cooling fans are working, replace if not. You may even have to reapply the thermal paste. Depending on age you may need to change the cmos battery.
