Hi, I'm trying to figure out why I am having the hardest time maintaining an Interent connection with my HP wireless laptop now that Triad Cable installed a Netgear wireless router for Home Networking.

Previously, I had a regular Netgear router which allowed my HP Laptop (a DV9000 running Vista) to connect wirelessly and my Dell Desktop (XP) to connect via hard-wired. Never had any issues with the Internet connection on either computer. Triad cable came out and installed one of their Netgear Home Networking routers and I got a new HP dv7 in the meantime (also running Vista). Since the very first day I got the new laptop, I have the worst problems with maintaining an Internet connection when coming up out of sleep mode. I have to connect and reconnect about 15 times before it will maintain the Internet connection.

I've never had a single problem with the Dell running XP as it is connected directly into the router and I also run Vonage phone, no issues there either. Only the new laptop. I've ruled out that the issue is Vista since the old laptop ran Vista and no issues. The only difference is the Netgear wireless router which does not require Triad's cable access and the old Netgear that had the cable directly connected to it.

Anyone else have these issues? Triad blames HP, and vice versa, just to prove to both of them how far removed this is from an ID-10-T error, I put the flipping router on my laptop keyboard to prove it wasn't a distance issue. I've changed the DCHP registry key to default to 0 and everything else we can try on both HP and Triad's parts...no relief from the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Trippi

What is the model number and/or part number of the new router? What wifi card do you have in the new laptop?
