Can someone please give me some advice on how to do this?

I want to transfer my Sims2 game files from my sisters laptop to mine but I'm not tech savvy so I'd like someone to explain the process to me. I think I need to establish some sort of connection where I can access the files on her computer but I just don't know how.

Do you have an external Hard Drive, or a USB flash drive?

Game save files usually are small files, thus easy to transfer.

Go to staples or office max (something like that) and get a "USB Flashdrive"
They hold large amounts of data, at a small price. Get one that says atleast 2gb. Or bigger.
When you have one, insert it into the USB port on your computer (looks like a rectangle port under 1 inch - has a logo with three arm things) and copy everything from c:/program_files/maxis/the_sims I think. Open windows explorer (click start and do search) and type in "maxis". A folder should come up, and right click it and do copy. Open the folder of the flash drive and right click paste it there. When done, install sims on the new computer, and overwrite that maxis folder with the current one. Just copy the folder, and delete the maxis folder of the sims, and paste it there.

A flash drive? Is that all I need? lol

I HAVE a flash drive. :) It's 1GB though. Do you think that's enough? It's brand new with maybe 1 or 2 tiny things on it which I can delete.

    Thanks guys!

Check to see how big the files are you need to transfer. Most cases they are not real large.

It's a lot of files. I'm transferring them to the flash drive and when it gets full I take it out and load it to the other computer then empty it and repeat the process. Hopefully that works.

If you have a Windows Live Account aka Hotmail. You can use SkyDrive. Has 5 GB of storage free. Upload it on there. Go to other comp, DL it. And there you have it.

If you've installed Sims 2 on your computer, which you probably have, all you need to grab is everything in the My Documents>EA Games folder on your sister's computer. This has your neighborhood saves, custom content, pictures you've taken in game, etc. all within it.

Right click on the folder and select Properties. That will tell you how big everything is in there.

If you have a lot of custom content, your Downloads folder inside the EA Games folder will be pretty big. Mine is over 3 GB for that folder alone.

    Happy Simming!

My downloads folder was over 4GB! lol

But I got all my files transfered. Took a while though having to do it by flash drive but it's done and now I can enjoy the new EP on my new comp. which runs the game MUCH faster than the old one. :)
