My friend has rebuilt a Toshiba Satellite Pro SPA10 PSA15E-09JQ9-EN with Windows XP. It appears to be working OK, but he can't get the wireless working. There is a wireless switch on the front of the machine, so I presume wireless is fitted. However, there is no mention of a wireless connection in Device Manager. There is no information about this laptop on the Toshiba website, so I assume it is fairly old.

    Can anyone help please?

That would be the model better known as the Satellite Pro A10, for which the Toshiba support page can be found here. From a quick glance at the specs, it looks like that particular model (the PSA15E-09JQ9-EN version) does come with wireless.

You might check on the web to see if you can find the service manual as well.

Look for the wireless adapter under "Network Adapters" in the device manager and check the driver.

If you don't see an adapter, lift the inspection cover under the unit and see that the card exists. You can remove and replace the card and have windows search for new hardware and reinstall it.

Lastly, note the model of the card and download the latest drivers.

It always helps to turn the switch ON.

Sounds simple, but most switches can easily be accidentally turned off, and most users doesn't think about the simple things.
