Which firmware would be good to use to upgrade v1.28?
    Using Linksys WRTG54v3 router.
I'm looking for a way to control individual DHCP IP bandwidths.

    Thanks

I'm not sure if Tomato can do that but Gargoyle can control bandwidth for individual internal IPs.
That said it hasn't been updated in three months which is a bad sign.

I've heard that .trx images can brick the WRTG54 routers whereas .bin files won't.

Anyone can be clear on that issue?

    Gargoyle sounds interesting.

In what context are you referring to bricking a wrt54g? Writing an image with mtd is only for experts/fools, using sysupgrade or the web interface is safe.

On a wrt54g, .bin files are usually for flashing from stock linksys firmware, and trx is used thereafter for flashing upgrades or new images.

Keep in mind that it is hard to brick a wrt54g by flashing firmware. With openwrt, you can always do a failsafe recovery as long as you have tcpdump (listen on udp 4919) and a paperclip.

Does OpenWRT have IP bandwidth control?
