    To get or not to get 300mbps...

    Hey guys,

    okay, I recently got my new laptop and it has the intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100, and now I also have a new D-Link - Xtreme N Wireless-N gigabit router.

    So here are my questions,

    Because my card is the 5100 will I never see the 300 mbps?
    If I buy an D-Link - Xtreme N Wireless-N Card and put it in and disable my 5100 card will I then get 300 mbps?

    Can I buy other brands of N cards (netgear etc) and still get the 300mbps? or will they not work with my router?

    Oh and, I have not yet set up the new router, I literally just got it, it is in the box still.

    The 5100 supports 300mbps, you should be good to go!

    Fastest I have gotten so far with a 5100 agn card and using a netgear router is 130mbs...So I hope as well that 240 is possible...

    If I find that I cannot reach 300 mbps and I opted for a new card, would I be able to somehow make use of my 5100 intel card? Does it come out so that I could put it into an older laptop?

    If the older laptop has the same type of mini PCI card, then you can use the card.
