214 megabits per second is very fast, if you were talking of mbps. Overhere t-mobile HSDPA cards now reach around 1,5 Mbit per sec. But I know that technology can bring up to 10 or more Mbit per sec. So are you sure it is 214 megabits per second, because you could be a local provider in a small village with this speed. (and more - you could be anywhere) :)

Well you aren't getting 214mps, more like 214 kbs ;)

Tmobile does not currently have EVDO or HSDPA service which is the cellular broadband. Currently Sprint and Verizon has the largest service areas in this area with EVDO. Cingular's HSDPA has not had significant roll outs yet but it is also a good service where available.

EVDO average speeds are from 500-1mb depending on location. The real question is where you will be using it and if the area is EVDO enabled or just
1xRTT. 1xRTT service will only run in the 80-120k range with 400+ ms pings.

Check out evdoforums.com for more info.

Thanks for clearing this out semi. I was wondering how is it possible to have such fast speeds over HSDPA (or anything else). And another interesting thing is that HSDPA is like a normal thing with T-mobile overhere in Croatia, Europe. T-mobile Croatia offers Fusion PCMCIA card with up to 384 kbps and wireless 54g. VIP is offering up to 1,5 MBit/s. It works in big cities. I currently use my T-mobile MDA PRO with UMTS averaging around 150 kbps.

    Cheers,

    Ivan

Croatia is a small country on Adriatic sea between Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro. 4,5 million people, and lots of fun. :)

Fast Internet over HSDPA, UMTS and GPRS too.

    Cheers,
