I live on the outskirts of a small town. I am so tired of dial-up! I live in an area that is mostly farms, so houses are not very close together. Because of being out of town, I can't get cable, I can't get DSL. I have Dish Network for TV. What are the options I should check on? I have Cingular cellphone service. Is wireless an option for me? If so, how fast and good is it? Do they charge based on internet time? How about satellite internet? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to want to pursue the Dish option. While not the greatest, it should be much better than dial-up. Wireless carriers won't have high speed data where you live, so that's out.

Sillyman that dudes last activity was: 12-10-2006. So he's not coming back just to post that here. Don't revive dead threads man. It's not cool. =\

I guess I am not in the habit of looking at someones last activity. I figured other people with similar issues may be able to benefit from newer technology not available at the time. I guess I fail to see the harm in that if your not interested in the topic or dates move on to the next. Sorry I wasted your time reading this thread.

No it's not that i have a problem with it, it's just that usually when you revive old threads mod don't like it. If they think it's ok then fine, but they usually close it so i speak under that notion.

SillyMan, just start a new thread and post the info you have to share. No doubt it'll be of use to somebody currently stuck with dialup service.

If a thread is ~2 year old or older, please dont revive it since it probably contains useless/outdated information.

Instead of reviving the thread, you can PM or email the OP.

    Thread closed.

    Thx
