I am using a HP laptop and i use the default Win XP app for searching and selecting which wireless network(wifi hotspot) i have to use. Most of the time, the default app keeps acting crazy like whenever & whereever i search, i will always find my home network. Most of the times, my friend(using Toshiba) is able to find network and i just cannot find it.
Is there any third party app or is there any better way to do it???

Do you have an Intel Wireless Card?

If so, then you can download the Intel Proset Wireless Software.

Yes, The Intel Proset is quite aggressive at finding available networks.

You can also alter the peramiters for how hard you want it to search.
