I am thinking about sending my dv1000 back to Costco to have my laptop reconfigured for broadcom wireless card. I only had my laptop for 4 weeks and I have been having connections problems with the intel 2200bg card. It does not seem to work properly with WPA and I am using the latest drivers from Intel and with intel pro wireless software. It keeps saying "aquring an address". Proset is able tp detect my network, but cannot connect. Hp will not support anything higher then WEP on the 2200bg card. They require a fee for total solution help if you have a problem using WPA with the intel nic. That is BS!!

I have research all over the web and other forums and their seems to be a problems with the 2200bg card. Some people have it working fine and others don't.

    What do you guys think?

the problem of never getting an address is a problem with your setup; either at the card or the router.

the "problems" that people are having with the 2200bg are usually about speed issues or dropped connections. that's different than never getting an address.

i would double-check your settings at the card and router and also your firewall settings.

for the record; i have the 2200bg and have no problems. i regularly connect to a netgear b router, a netgear b/g router, and a trendnet g router. i've never had any problems with any of them.

The 2200bg seems to be more stable with old drivers from 2004 while using the windows wireless utility and WPAencryption. WEP and unsecure connections work fine but its only when I use WPA with the latest drivers, I have a problem. Another issue the Intel proset software seems to have is allow connections with WPA. I keep getting an error message "aquring address. I cannot use any encryption higher then WEP using the latest drivers from Intel for the 2200bg. What do you suggest I do? What configuration do I need to check? My router is not the problem, I was able to use my buddies compaq with a broadcom b/g and it worked fine under the WPA secuirty from the router.

    What do you think?

ah, i should have read your original post more closely. well, it sounds like a pretty specific issue to your setup. have you tried looking for any white papers on hp's site?

I have done of that, I think its Intel issue that has not been addressed! I contacted Hp and their main concern was that the nic card worked with WEP and witout secuirty. They will not support anything higher then WEP, its beyond there scope.
