    Telling if your laptop supports PXE booting- Packard bell

    Hi,
    About 2 years ago i purchased my Packard bell easynote TK85 laptop from currys, I would like to now how i can tell if i can boot over network via PXE, is there any tools i need to run,or any extra info you need?

    The easiest way is to enter BIOS setup at boot and check what options are available in the section where you choose boot priority - if PXE is available it has to be an option on that list.

    Thanks for your speedy reply, After looking in the BIOS the closest thing i could find was Network boot: Legacy PCI Device

    Thats probably not it, but give it a shot anyways.

    Unless your laptop is a business model the odds it supports PXE are pretty low. Some enthusiast type laptops may have it if they have an intel NIC as most of those come with option ROMs.

    Network boot: legacy PCI in the BIOS setup boot menu is the one you want, it's just a question of if your NIC actually supports PXE. Only one way to find out... make sure it's at the top of your boot order.
