Hello all, my home network has a number (4) of XP computers and 3 Vista computers hanging off it.
The Vista PC's are rock steady, but of late (ie it's a new-ish problem) the XP computers have been throwing up errors, and plenty of them.

    I get 3 lot's of errors

    "sshb"
"runtime error 39***" & somtimes "can't connect at this time"
"TTY1.exe" error up to 69 windows with this!!!

Googling sshb get's very little of relevance. TTY.exe is a terminal program I beleive, but I have no idea how to disable it. It doesn't show in task-manager (that I can identify).

I think this is a network problem as when I bring my work laptop home (XP) the error comes up after a time too.

    Any suggestions greatfully accepted.

the only clue I have is that (in desperation) I installed the Windows OneCare trial on 1 XP PC, which now tells me that "sshb is trying to access the web etc" and I dis-allow it, but my free trial is up soon arrrggh!

(BTW I don't think it's malware as Norton, AVG free, Spyware Doctor, Stinger, Windows OneCare and Windows defender all don't find any.

    Thanks in advance

    Greg

TTY.exe is a terminal program, tty1.exe may be a modified terminal program for some sort of malware. Coupled with your other two errors, I'd say you are almost certainly infected.

Adding in that OneCare says that sshb is trying to access the web and I am even more certain. It is probably a rootkit that hides itself from windows and is therefore. not seen by your malware programs

Play games on these computers? One reference toSSHB is a trojan game thief. Run rootkit revealer and see if that finds anything

Wow thanks dude! Guess that's why you're a deity. I downloaded root revealer and found several. I downloaded F-Secure online scanner and so far, so good! Yay!

How come my Vista PC's remained clean? Maybe UAC and Vista ain't so bad!

    cheers
