So I've had my T61 for a couple weeks now and it's been working fine for the most part (it also makes that annoying whinning noise when it runs on battery but that's a whole other isuse). So a couple days ago, I noticed that I was having trouble opening some websites: gmail, yahoo.com, facebook, hotmail.com...i tried everything from disconnecting/connecting back to rebooting my computer entirely. Then, I went into the taskmanager and closed "explorer.exe" and suddenly all the websites started working. Any suggestions?

I was thinking that it was maybe a Norton issue but I'm not quite sure...

    Thanks in advance!

You closed one IE, the one that was blocking the rest of the windows, that happens all the time with IE, is normal. If you were using Vista, you would not have to use the TM, you would get a window asking you if it should close the page, re-start and another option I don't remember.

I'm using FF3 now so I don't have that issue anymore.

Well, that would make sense but I use Firefox...I didn't even have an IE page open. All that ending the "explorer.exe" process did was that it remove the windows taskbar...

But IE doesn't work now, right?

It'll only work for certain sites like FF. Any sites that require me to login don't seem to work.

I thinking maybe I should uninstall Norton and opt for something different?

I agree, you should not remove explorer.exe, it is essential for IE well functioning.
