Recently my employer upgraded my notebook from a T41 to a T61 machine. Both had wireless capability. At home I have a wireless network using an Apple Extreme router ("n" capable) using encryption WPA2-PSK. The old notebook worked perfectly as well as all of the other systems in the house.
The T61 using WiFi card 4965AG seems to have problems connecting to this network. It uses the IBM ThinkVantage system for finding the WLAN.
The program shows the router with near 100% signal strength and goes through the authentication and association steps with no problem. But when it tries to obtain an IP address the system times out. Every 1 out of 10 tries it may connect. If I connect the machine to the wired system everything works perfectly. The IT department insist that it is my router, but I do not believe it since the old machine worked great with the same parameters.
    Any suggestions or similar problems.

Try setting the router to g only if your not using 11n. You may also need to force the T61 to g only for your network. It may be seeing the 5ghz and trying to use it. And your T51 may not support wideband / channel bonding uses by some routers to improve distance and speed.
