Just heads up for any T-mobile users. They are letting you rent a RT-AC68U for free, as long as you are a T-mobile post-paid plan subscriber. It is supposed to be a $25 deposit you get back when you return the device, but until the 24th, they are waiving the deposit fee. They are offering free ground shipping. This is part of their uncarrier 7.0 features to expand wifi calling awareness.
It is confirmed to be an asus rt-ac68u model with a special tmobile firmware. So far it seems the tmobile firmware is basically the asus firmware with QOS settings for wifi calls, and missing one asus feature (cloud i think).
The best way to get it is to call in, get customer care rep, and ask to rent the Wifi CellSpot. Make sure they didn't mistake it for the LTE signal booster.
You can also outright buy the device from them for $99 + shipping. You have to be a t-mobile post-paid subscriber to rent. Not sure if you can buy it if you are a T-mobile pre-paid user.
