    Hi,

I've just purchased Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 as a recommendation from my friend, but there have been some problem arise.

When it is on, I cannot connect to my home wireless. The computer kept acquiring IP adress, and failed, and tried again. So I have to temporarily turned off Network Threat Protection to connect to the wireless.

Once successfully connected, yahoo messenger can login, but not MSN messenger, or MS Outlook.

After awhile, the wireless dropped again, and tried in vain to reconnect if I did not turn off the NETWORK THREAT PROTECTION.

I tried to add all my messenger apps to exception list, but it did not work either, so I removed them from the list.

Yesterday I slept over my friend's house also with QWest Internet, and the same modem as I use at home (2Wire 2700HG-B). I did not run into any kind of blocking problem as at home, so I think the problem is with the setup of my modem.

Also, the different between the internet at my house and my friend's house is: mine - 1.5Mbps, and he's - 7Mbps.

    Any help, please!!!

    Thank you.

The problem is symantic, You have not configured the firewall connection properly. You need to add rules for your subnets and/or applications that are allowed to use the internet.

I no longer recommend symantic products due to the huge overhead. Beside they have cost me countless hours of headachs due to bad definitions and would not take or admit responsibility. I use comodo fw and avira AV, both are free products with 1/4 the overhead.

    Hi,

I have just registered on this forum to answer to this question. Its very easy to run msn messenger with end point. Below are simple steps:

    1. Open end point by double clicking the tray icon.
    2. Click the Options button for Network Threat Protection
    3. Click on View Network Activity
    4. You will see MSN Messenger icon on it.
    5. Right click the MSN Messenger icon and click on Allow.
    6. Press Close. Restart MSN.

    Thats it. Hope this helps.

Also I also did'nt liked Symantec products earlier but then EndPoint is a real life saver. It has helped me protect my cyber cafe computers. Its light and works great.

    Thanks.

I will not load Symantic on anything. It is nothing but trouble and requires 50% of your cpu power to run. Then if it expires before you renewed you will be forced to reload your OS.
