Hey all, I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6916 with Vista. Started at college recently, and I am trying to get two different internet connections to work reliably. There are wireless hotspots around campus, and I am set up on that network. When I am in one of the hotspots the internet works just fine (no duh). However in my room the wireless signal is there but it sucks, so the connection becomes pretty inconsistent. Hence why I need the second connection, wired with an ethernet cable. When I plug in the cable, and actually get connected, it seems to work fine, however I have to type in the username and password for the network every time I plug in (the box that says remember the username and password is greyed out).

So, what do I need to do to get it so that when I go in my room and plug the cable in, it will automatically connect to that network, then when I leave and go to a wireless signal, it will once again automatically connect. I have things working but I have to fuss with it every time, I can't get it to do things on its own. Thanks a lot guys. :)

on your wireless properties, enter the ssid manually and click connect to preferred network and move it on top

for the wired, i think, your network admin has change the way users log in and log off that's why remember password is grayed out

you can try creating a connection to a workplace

    check out netsetman.

Someone here pointed me at this nifty utility 10 days ago and it's been a godsend. No more problems with roaming among multiple networks using various combinations of dhcp and fixed IP addressing.

    "recommended"
