Is there a way to schedule your computer or a program that will switch between wifi connections at a certain time?

Here's my situation, I have satellite internet (blah I know but I can't get DSL or cable because I live in the boonies) and it has a download limit of 200 meg a day. BUT, from 1 AM to 6 AM, I am allowed to download as much as I want to. In the mean time, I use my cellphone for online gaming (mmorpgs) and bigger downloads. My satellite is about twice as fast as my cellphone at downloading things so I like to use my satellite modem which is hooked up to a wifi router to download things at night.

So my question is, is there anyway or a program that will/can change my wifi connection at 1 AM to my satellite modem wifi connection and then switch my wifi connection back to my cellphone at 6 AM?

That's pretty complicated. I think you'll have to find someone to script something together for ya.

Is it? Its only two clicks if I'm at my computer. Is the best way to go is to go with a macro or script? I've seen programs that will let you simulate some clicks and keyboard actions, record them, and then play them back.

I was just hoping there was something built into windows 7 or a program that would do it for you.

Most wifi routers have the ability to enable and disable connections during certain hours. Set it to disconnect your computer when you want it to.

Next, you need to set up the connection metrics in Windows. Look into the properties of each network connection, the IPv4 connection, then the Advanced settings. Set the satellite metric to 10 and the cell phone metric to 20, so when Windows sees both connected it will prefer the satellite connection. When the satellite is disconnected (via your wireless router rules you set up), the computer should fail over to your cell connection.

This is in theory... I haven't tried it myself, but a bit of Googling should help you figure out any problems you run into.

Since this isn't really a Windows 7 specific problem, I've moved it to the networking forum (and left a redirect for a few days)
