    Hi Guys
I got a Lenovo Thinkpad T500, with a Intel WiFi 5100AGN chip that run 2.4GHz and 5GHz but only in 2x2 mode.
Therefor I suspect that, also only got two radio wires or antennas, but I am not sure.
Either way, is possible to upgrade it to a Intel WiFi 3x3 chip, like the Ultimate-N 6300 and if swappes them, what about the radios/antennas?

Do I risk having a 3x3(802.11n streams) wireless chip while only having a 2x2 radio or? And what about disconnecting and reconnecting the wires to the board, is that easy and doable without soldering? (But I have dismantle this laptop befor and replaced to many parts of a old T61p, that I am not worried about fiddling with the hardware at all, it just the specifics of replace a WiFi chip).

The real reason is that the 6300 is sold for as little as USD44 and then I planing on late upgrade my router to a Cisco/Linksys E4200v2, pending a good review on smallnetbuilder, and it goes for sale in denmark :D

You can upgrade to 6300 easily but you'll need a third antenna to achieve 450mbs.
Connecting an antenna to a Wi-Fi card id easy- these are sort of clip-on connectors so no soldiering required however you'll have to route the third antenna somewhere inside you laptop.

As for E4200v2 it's a bad idea- go for E4200v1 fo reasons stated here.

#Downloads - tkx, the antenna clip-on thing don't surprice me. But with regards to the 2x2 vs 3x3 antenna layout mean that I believ I will put the upgrade on pause. And next time I will buy a new costumade thinkpad instead of a used one.

I allready knew the reservations for the e4200v2 mainly that it can't run OS firmware, due to the board. But as I saided will see a performance review of the beast befor I make my mind. Because unless its firmware is really unstable or lacking major, basic features. I have no need to replace the firmware, admitted I would have liked to, but again that is more to full fill my network fetish... :p
