    Hi guys,

I recently swapped routers from a Cisco to a Hitron dual band CGN3R0G (through my ISP, Rogers). Ever since, I am unable to access web pages via one of the laptops in my home, unless I set the router to "Open" (i.e., no security). I have 2 other laptops that work fine, along with an iPad. A few other points:

    1. If I switch say from WPA/WPA2 to just WPA (or vice versa), I am able to connect via the laptop. But only for one session. That is, once I close the browser and then open it again (doesn't matter if I use Chrome or IE), I am unable to connect to any web pages.
    2. The wifi manager (just use the windows 7 one) simply says "connected", and sometimes says "internet access" other times says "no network access". But in either event, I have no internet access.
    3. I can see the IP address of the offending laptop if I log into my router, but I can't Ping it from the router (I can of course ping any other device connected to it).
    4. I can connect via a direct wired connection

Some of the trouble shooting I've tried:

    1. Ran a Malware scan and virus scan
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi adapter driver
    3. Went to Intel's site to download the most up to date software for the wifi adapter and installed that
    4. Did a full system restore to 4 days ago (before the change in router)
    5. Ran cc cleaner to fix any registry issues.
    6. Checked to ensure no IP conflicts on the device
    7. Checked to see if there were any IP6 to 4 things in my device manager (read somewhere that could cause issues), there weren't.

One other thing to point out, ever since a recent Windows security update that was installed, one of my user names takes FOREVER to log in to Windows. After I put in my password, it takes about 3-4 minutes of a black screen (mouse is still operable) before Windows 7 is finished loading. That is only with the user name I have setup with a password. If I log in using a user name without password, it boots up nice and quick. After I did the system restore, this stopped happening. However, my computer reinstalled the most recent Win 7 security update today (I guess when it was connected to the Internet for a period of time while I was wired) and is now doing this again. I checked the Startup section and see no odd files (I had that Conduit crap in there but managed to get rid of it).

The laptop is an older Acer 5920G, running Windows 7 64 bit, Intel 4965AGN wifi card, and has had no issues in the past connecting, and was fine literally up until I put in the Hitron router. I did install some sort of USB key software from the ISP provider (some sort of "quick router setup" thing) which I've since uninstalled.

Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated, it's frustrating as all heck as it feels like I've tried everything! But it's probably something relatively simple that I'm missing, I hope!

    Thanks!

Strange. So I just decided to try the 5G band with the laptop, and suddenly it works fine with this. But won't work with the 2.4G band. I guess I can live with that even though the 5G has a lower signal strength. But I don't understand why this would be??
