Apologies if this is the wrong thread...it's been a while since I've posted here. I am about to and rather than rent the modem from the ISP I was hoping to buy one and have them connect it when they come to install their service.
That being said I am considering the Apple Airport Extreme. I have previously used Linksys/Cisco routers and once in a while experimented with Netgear routers for my extended family. What are the top performing/reliable routers from Linksys, Netgear, and Belkin and is there one that's getting better reviews consistently than the other two?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide...

There are many new routers with prices reaching $300 but in my opinion the best high end router to buy is still a Netgear R7000 (see sticky for details).
Apple Airport Extreme tend to be reliable but usually lack advanced settings and obviously will never support a third party firmware. I always found them overpriced but with prices of other high-end router going up as they did AAE is now decently priced. -
Thanks for the response. I don't know of the Air Port Extreme is also a modem but I ended up getting a NETGEAR AC1750 Cable Modem Router (C6300). The reason being that I chose not to rent the modem from the ISP. They told me to just make sure that it was a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem router. Hopefully it's a good model and performs well.
Suggestions for New Modem/Router
